The CMTC is the U.S. Navy's Center of Excellence for Composites Manufacturing Technology

SCRA Applied R&D leads the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Composites Manufacturing Technology Center of Excellence (CMTC) for Naval platforms. The CMTC is one of seven Centers of Excellence (COE) that serve as technology resources to the ONR under the Navy Manufacturing Technology Program (ManTech). The centers are focal points for the development of manufacturing processes and equipment in a cooperative environment with industry, academia, and Navy industrial facilities and laboratories.

The CMTC develops improved manufacturing processes for composites and advanced materials and facilitates technology transfer for the resolution of manufacturing and repair issues identified and prioritized by the Navy's Program Executive Offices (PEO's), other Department of Defense (DoD) services and industry. The developed technologies have application to modern DoD aircraft, surface ships, submarines, land vehicles, and associated weapons and missiles.

The technology resource for the CMTC is the The Composites Consortium (TCC), which is chaired by SCRA. TCC is an industry-focused, balanced team of prime contractors for weapon systems, composites industry suppliers, universities, and institutes. The CMTC draws upon the strong in-depth knowledge, experience and collective expertise of the consortium membership in the resolution of composite and advanced materials manufacturing and repair issues.
